    Sealing Materials

    3 Mins Read

Sealing elements used in many sectors such as construction, manufacturing, industrial and medicine are tools used to prevent solid, liquid or gas leakage in the environment.

Sealing elements, which vary according to the environment and surface they are used on and can be transported, provide the repair of all kinds of leaks according to the need.

Sealing materials of various sizes and weights have remarkable differences with their working principle and technical features as well as being made of various materials.

    What is Sealing?

Sealing, which ensures that a substance (whether solid, liquid or gas) does not leak when transferred from one medium to another medium, is of various sizes and weights; They are elements that ensure uninterrupted passage of the substance during transfer. Sealing, which varies with different usage techniques and building materials, are practical tools that prevent all kinds of leakage.

    What are Sealing Features?

Sealing, which is resistant to high temperature and pressure, has a wide range of uses in automotive, aerospace, industrial, construction, medicine and daily life. These materials, which differ from each other according to the environment in which they are used, can last for many years on chemical and vibration-based abrasive surfaces when made in consultation with an expert.

What are the Types of Sealing?

Sealing, which is divided into two as contact and non-contact, is divided into many types within itself. Contact sealing elements; It prevents leakage by touching between the two surfaces where the transfer is made. The most well-known examples of contact sealing include gaskets (which provide a transition between two fixed surfaces), seals (which provide a transition between moving surfaces) and the newly emerging o-rings (which have a ring structure).

Non-contact sealing is usually used in fast transfer machines, with a gap in between. Labyrinth seals (consisting of narrow passageways and cutting the speed of the flow), screw sealing (prevents leakage by pumping the fluid back), magnetic seals (vacuuming using a magnetic field) are the most well-known non-contact sealing types.

What Should Be Considered When Using Sealing?

Sealing, which has a widespread usage area, plays an important role especially in the transfer of hazardous materials. Choosing the appropriate material according to the area where it will be applied; ensures that the sealing can withstand factors such as heat, pressure, chemical, vibration and moisture.

Sealing, which should be made of quality and durable materials, should be installed and checked by experts in the field in the region where it will be used. Even if it is made of good materials, maintenance routines should be carried out regularly and in case of any malfunction, it should be repaired or replaced if necessary.

Where Can Sealing Elements Be Obtained?

Sealing, which can be used in almost every field, can be of various structures, sizes and weights. For this reason, the places where the sealing to be used is supplied may also differ.

For example, hardware and construction markets usually have the sealing elements required for plumbing. Automotive spare parts stores supply parts in cases where there are leaks related to automobiles. Industrial material suppliers, on the other hand, offer sealing elements used in wider and industrial production.

Online sales platforms, manufacturers and licensed distributors also offer direct solutions for complex applications.
